Description
Bornite, also known as peacock ore, is a sulfide mineral, a common copper bearing mineral used as an ore of copper when found in copper deposits. While the largest and most distinct crystals of Bornite have come from Dzhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, these specimens were actually mined along sections of the Kuskokwim River in Northern Alaska in the Ruby Creek copper deposit along with seminated particles of chalcopyrite, pyrite, and a little chalcocite. Take a colorful piece of Alaska home with you; a great addition to any rock collection!
