Description
This fossilized polar bear tooth from the St. Lawrence Island area, a well-known subsistence and Native community in the Arctic Ocean, is a very rare and beautiful specimen.
Polar bears are extremely large predators: adult males can grow to almost 10 feet long and weigh up to 1,600 pounds. Strong swimmers, these bears are often found on ice flows and lead a very nomadic life. Their paws are very large, which helps to distribute their weight across ice or snow.
Because polar bears live on ice and their remains are unlikely to be buried in sediment and preserved, polar-bear fossils are very, very rare. Only 6 of these were made.
Enjoy this exclusive polar bear tooth necklace with 14 karat bail, a symbol of Alaska's arctic spirit and wild expanse.
Tooth measures 4.5 inches long.
