Description
Tasting Note:
A crowd-pleasing favorite simply by name, King Salmon has a delicate flavor and a decadent richness, a texture that is tender yet firm. It’s sweet and a little smoky, and the marbling of healthy fats makes it a guilt-free treat.
Serve it up:
Serve it as your centerpiece or eat it straight out of the can. We won’t judge. From the simplest salmon spreads to family-friendly frittatas, we support salmon served in every meal.

About the Brand: Wildfish Cannery
Nature provides perfection—we’re here to preserve it.
For over 30 years we've been carrying on the craft and time-honored traditions of the region in the small seaside town of Klawock, home to Alaska’s very first salmon cannery more than a century ago. Klawock, located on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska, has a population of just 796, most of whom consider fishing an essential part of life.
Wildfish was founded in 1987 by Phyllis Meuller, the local school bookkeeper who saw the community's need for custom seafood processing. Today, the reigns are held by Phyllis's grandson, Chef Mathew Scaletta, who is dedicated to melding his fine-dining background (honed in foodie paradise Portland, Oregon) with his family’s craft. So three generations in and we're still here, taking the best of our traditions and adding a "new school" touch. The exploration and excellence never stop.

Juneau Sled Dog Discovery & Musher's Camp
Your journey will begin with a 25-minute narrated drive over to Douglas Island. Upon arriving up at dog camp, you will be greeted with overwhelming excitement from our teams of dogs that can’t wait to take you on the ride of your life. You will then hop aboard our custom-designed wheeled summer sleds that sit 6 people, with the musher steering the team from the back. Relax and enjoy watching the 16 dogs in front of you run with their hearts and souls to give you an authentic dog sledding experience. Halfway through your ride, the musher will stop to snap some photos of you with the dog team in front, as well as to give these dogs a break---anything above 0 degrees is a warm summer day for them! Get your list of questions ready, because, after the ride, your group will proceed to the covered wooden area for the Musher Presentation where you will learn all there is to know about this sport and the mushing lifestyle from a real musher and a retired sled dog. If you haven’t gotten enough pictures up at our scenic camp yet, venture on over to our hanging bridge that overlooks Fish Creek and is surrounded by gorgeous Spruce and Hemlock trees. Enjoy bouncing on the bridge but remember to save some energy for puppy time! That’s right---we almost always have at least a couple of litters of pups up at camp ready to be loved on. In fact, it is very important for future racing success that they have ample human socialization, so you cuddling up with these adorable husky pups is actually helpful---thank you! After enough puppy kisses, you will board your bus and head back to your dock so you can continue exploring our state’s charming capital. Tour Itinerary 30 minutes Narrated drive from the dock to our Musher's Camp on Douglas Island 30 minutes Wheeled dog sled ride through the forest followed by time to meet the dog team 30 minutes Interactive Musher Presentation to learn about mushing and have all your questions answered 20 minutes Time to play with the puppies! 25 minutes Return scenic drive from Douglas Island back to town

Half Day Icy Strait Point Fishing + Bear Watching
We’ll be fishing a wild “last frontier” type area with little signs of civilization to be found. As we fish and hike along the river, you will be amazed by the surrounding nature. We may even have the chance to watch salmon spawn and pick wild berries. Depending on the time of year, we’ll fish for Salmon and/or Trout. Both fly rods and spinning rods will be available, as well as lessons for those new to fishing. Going fishing in Hoonah, Alaska is the perfect way to check an activity off your bucket list while at the same time exploring a new place and seeing wildlife. We often check in with our guests after their cruise to see how the rest of their trip went. Almost every guest tells us that THIS TOUR was the highlight of their whole cruise. Are you ready to NatVenture with us? *FAQ - Is there a weight limit? Yes, the boats are able to hold up to 220 pounds - Do I need a fishing license? Yes, if you’re age 16+. A 1 day (24 hr) license can be purchased online for $15. - What should I bring? Rain gear, water, snack/lunch, and a sense of adventure! - Do I need to tip my guide? Gratuity is greatly appreciated if you are satisfied with the service of your guide. Although it is customary to tip your guide, it is not required. We are often asked the size of a typical tip. An appropriate guideline is 15% of the cost of the trip. Feel free to alter this as you see fit. - Can we keep our catch? We highly encourage catch and release, but ultimately, the decision is up to the angler. We encourage catch and release for a number of reasons. For one, we don't want to attract bears while on the river. Additionally, Pink Salmon do not freeze very well- they are best eaten the day of. If the primary goal of your trip is to keep fish to take home, we suggest saltwater fishing instead of river fishing. Alternatively, you could book both saltwater and freshwater trips to get a taste of both worlds! -We have 7 or more people in our group - can we book? Send us a message to coordinate!
