This pin featuring sterling silver and fossilized woolly mammoth ivory showcases an Alaskan fishing boy with spear in Savoonga, Alaska.

 

Savoonga is a city in the Nome Census Area, Alaska. It is located on St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea where much of the high-quality Eskimo and Inupiat art comes from. As of the 2010 census, Savoonga's population was 671.

 

Prehistoric woolly mammoth ivory is found in Alaska, Canada, Russia, and Siberia, and may range in age from 10,000 to 200,000 years. 

 

This piece doubles as a pin or pendant.

Approximate size is 53mm tall x 35mm wide
