About us

The Ketchikan Duck Tour is an independent, family owned and operated company that launched its first DUCK tour in 2001. Alaska Amphibious Tours purchased its first Hydra Terra vehicle, manufactured exclusively for tourism, from CAMI (Cool Amphibious Manufacturers International) in Rochester, NY and drove it all the way to Alaska.

The Hydra-Terra "DUCK” is likely the most unique vehicle you’ll see on the road or in the water. What started with a single DUCK and a vision to create a unique touring concept in Ketchikan quickly expanded to include a fleet of five DUCKS, all of which are named after the owner’s family.

We’ve built our business by listening to our guests, caring about their experience, and investing in the Ketchikan community as a whole. Yet what makes the Ketchikan Duck Tour exceptional is our incredible team of competent, dynamic, thoughtful individuals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, leadership, and above all, a safe and memorable one-of-a-kind guest experience.

All our Captains hold a United States Coast Guard Masters license as well as a commercial driver’s license. They are CPR and First Aid certified and must complete a rigorous training program before transporting DUCK passengers. Our fleet of Hydra Terras is annually inspected by the USCG and the DOT, as well as daily by our full-time team of highly skilled, heavy duty marine and auto mechanics. The Ketchikan Duck Tour is the only amphibious tour company in Alaska and operates May through September during the tourist season. Tourism is one of Alaska’s largest industries and we’re proud to be a part of it!

What we'll do

It’s a Bus-and-a Boat and it quacks & floats!

Only fun people are allowed on this 90-minute tour that takes you through the rustic streets of Ketchikan, then splashes into the harbor for spectacular views of Alaska’s First City. Be prepared for entertainment, trivia, and live narration that’s guaranteed to "quack you up”.

Starting downtown on the cruise ship dock, we’ll embark on a quack-tacular 45-minute land tour winding our way through the city’s quaint, historic neighborhoods. Enjoy factual and amusing commentary on Ketchikan’s past, present, and future endeavors as we waddle through the famous tunnel and across town to our most anticipated destination.

Travel by the salmon ladder on Ketchikan Creek viewing the spawning grounds and live salmon in season, picturesque Whale Park with its beautiful flowers and antique clock, and Creek Street where you will learn of Ketchikan’s colorful past and salty beginnings.

Arriving at bustling Bar Harbor we’ll instantly turn into a boat and splash into the Tongass Narrows for an intriguing 45-minute water adventure. Now pick your feet up and put your hands in the air as the Ketchikan Duck Tour splashes into the scenic harbor on the Tongass Narrows! Experience Ketchikan’s legendary commercial fishing industry and keep your eyes peeled for flying eagles, marine mammals, buzzing seaplanes...and of course, other DUCKS...that all call our waterfront home.

Bring your sense of adventure and humor along for an entertaining and interactive folklore & trivia-filled one-of-a-kind ride!
