About Us

Adventure Sixty North is a small Outdoor Adventure Center in Seward, Alaska offering a variety of outdoor trips and services from May – Sept every year. When we opened our doors in 2005, we had the dream to provide the ultimate Alaskan experience through unforgettable adventures. With humble beginnings, Adventure Sixty North was the first guiding company to offer winter guided tours into the Kenai Fjords National Park. We strive to continually and consistently provide quality services to remote and dynamic destinations in Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park. We have had the pleasure of working with a variety of media productions, governmental agencies, and educational entities, including the Discovery Channel, Weather Channel, the Eisenhower War College, and President Obama’s visit to Exit Glacier in 2015. We are eager to share our little slice of heaven with you.

-- CANCELLATIONS BY US --

If Adventure Sixty North LLC is forced to cancel a trip for any reason; the trip will be rescheduled or refunded. We reserve the right to cancel any trip due to the discretion of our personnel and their field experience. In such cases, our liability extends to the cost of the class or trip only, not travel and accommodations made by our customers.

Note: Once any trips start/depart and or must terminate early or extend due to any reason, there will be no refunds. This also applies to our overnight and multi-day trips. For overnight/multi-day trips, we recommend adding a buffer day on either end of your trip. Although weather delays in drop-off and pick-up are rare, they can happen. Bear Lake Scenic Paddle Kayak Tour

This trip is a great option for those adventurers with limited time. It is also a normally flat water trip, making it a great choice for families with small children or those wanting a relaxing paddle, away from seas and open water. Bear Lake is located just outside Seward, Alaska, and is about 4 mi. from our front door. We love Bear Lake because of the normally flat calm waters we find when while kayaking there. This a great option for a family with small kids, or big kids that do not want the challenge of kayaking in the ocean. Kayak or canoe on this scenic local lake with our fun-loving guides - which is also home to Sockeye salmon! We stop on the way to visit the salmon weir and learn about their life cycle. Often we also see eagles, loons, bears, and always great scenery!

Gold Panning at Clear Creek

We will teach you the ropes with a gold panning demonstration in our elevated troughs by our rustic gift shop. Personalized how-to demonstrations will have you panning like a pro while providing some local humor and history along the way. The canvas-covered log-framed structure where we pan for gold is located just across from our walking bridge, between our office and the gift shop. Depending on the salmon run, we can often spy salmon in the creek. The covered troughs allow us to stay dry while panning, which makes this the perfect activity, rain or shine! We pan in elevated wooden troughs with proven pay dirt so there is a possibility of everyone taking home their very own Alaskan Gold and gems!

Bear Glacier Heli/Kayak Half Day Combo Tour

Experience the best of air, land, and sea! This is the ultimate Alaskan experience. Break away from the crowds and access this untouched Alaskan gem. Begin with a scenic ride over the mountains and glaciers by helicopter followed by an exploration of a land-bound freshwater lagoon filled with monumental icebergs by kayak! One of the longest and largest glaciers off the Harding Ice Field Bear Glacier is a unique destination in Kenai Fjords National Park and will surely take your breath away. Simply stunning, rain or shine! Keep an eye out for seals sunning on ice sheets and bears browsing for berries. Routes vary depending on the current ice conditions in the lagoon. Bear Glacier is an extremely dynamic environment and each trip is a unique experience. This is as wild as Alaska gets! We drive you a short distance to our airport to meet your helicopter and helicopter pilot. From there, we fly over Resurrection Bay and up over the Kenai Mountains. We look for bears, mountain goats, and take in the amazing scenery. The helicopter flight is about 15 minutes each way. Once we descend into the beautiful and dynamic Bear Glacier area we land at our base camp located deep in the lagoon. Bear Glacier is visible most of the time from our landing site and camp. Kayaks will be waiting for your arrival. We paddle around the icebergs and get a closer look at Bear Glacier until it is time for the helicopter to come pick us up. About the Glacier: Bear Glacier is the largest glacier within the Kenai Fjords National Park and as it is ever-changing, never disappointing. We have the longest continuous guiding experience in Bear Glacier, unmatched by any other company in Seward, Alaska as well as a great safety record providing trips in remote Alaska for many years. Transport by Helicopter provides more paddle time than jet boats and water taxis and is much more reliable, comfortable, and safer. The views during this flight are unmatched! We originally tried the water taxi and jet boat options and decided to discontinue those due to the comfort, the safety of our guests. Because of those reasons and also access issues we determined that the helicopter was the best way to access this remote area. Helicopters are Robinson R-44 four-passenger helicopters which are the workhorse of the tourism businesses here in Alaska. About the Helicopter Flight: This flight is one of the most scenic ways that you can do to see the diverse topography that Alaska has to offer as you transition from sea level with its temperate rain forest boreal forests to alpine above treeline to then traveling over the scree field with snowbanks. Once you fly over the peaks you will descend down into a beautiful glacial lagoon where you will fly above the immense icebergs providing a rare view of the ice and its ice shelf that extends ours beneath the water level creating a beautiful sight you will then land at our Bear Glacier Base Camp that offers an in your face view of Bear Glacier which is the Kenai Fjords National Parks largest glacier. Often we see the local mountain goats, bears, and sometimes even wolverine as we fly over these rugged areas. About the Kayaking Adventure: This paddle is like no other that you will find in this part of Alaska. You will with your guide paddle from our base camp where we cache the stable tandem kayaks which we use to paddle in this iceberg-laden area. The icebergs can be beautiful but also can be very unpredictable and hazardous due to their movements. Your guide will lead you through this area providing glacial interpretation and travel routes as you paddle and view these beautiful icebergs.

We recommend that you take an extra layer if you typically are cold-natured. The hiking trail is a partially black-toped trail that turns into an undeveloped hiking trail which can be slippery and challenging to people that are not used to hiking nature trails. At points, you will hike on gravel, rock and encounter a narrow beam bridge crossing small drainage. If you consider yourself unstable with walking on an undeveloped trail as described, we recommend that you not participate in this hike for your safety!

Red (Sockeye) Salmon Guided Fishing Adventure

Red salmon or Sockeye is one of the most numerous species of salmon in streams and rivers of Alaska. Red salmon is by far the State of Alaska’s most valuable commercial salmon species, with millions of fish returning to Bristol Bay, the Copper River Basin, the Prince William Sound, Upper Cook Inlet, and the Kenai Peninsula. The sockeye salmon is a plankton feeder which is unlike the other Alaska salmon species and they are very passive toward lures. This salmon generally spends 2-3 years in the ocean before returning to their spawning waterways in large schools. The driving force that brings the sockeye salmon to migrate to its spawning bed is legendary. You need only watch them leap waterfalls and speed through fast currents to see the force and will to survive that the red salmon possesses. Pound for pound the sockeye is the strongest and most demanding sport fish in Alaska. The State of Alaska sportfishing record for this salmon is 16 pounds.
