4 Hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise

Offered by Major Marine Tours  In Seward, Alaska

About us

Major Marine Tours offers world-class wildlife and glacier cruises in Kenai Fjords National Park, departing from the beautiful harbor town of Seward, Alaska. We are a locally-owned, family company celebrating 30 years of sharing authentic Alaska adventures with our guests.

Tour Kenai Fjords on one of our cruise options ranging from 3.5 hours to 8.5 hours. Our cruises explore the glacier-carved fjords and abundant wildlife of Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park, offering some of the best glacier viewing and whale watching opportunities in Alaska.

We offer a range of different tours based on your interests and itinerary, including cruise options with educational kids programs, cruises for birders and photographers, and shorter cruises that stay in calmer, protected waters. Cruises 6 hours and over include a complimentary hearty deli lunch for all guests.

From family-friendly cruises on large, stable catamarans to full-day small-vessel adventure cruises – we have the cruise for you!

What we'll do

Limited on time but still want to cruise? Explore the calmer, protected waters of Resurrection Bay on our 4 Hour Wildlife Cruise. Look for whales, sea otters, Steller sea lions, puffins, and more!

Search for whales, sea otters, Steller sea lions, Dall’s porpoises, harbor seals, bald eagles, puffins, and many other types of marine birds as you cruise the protected waters of Resurrection Bay on our 4 Hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise. Our experienced captains will explore the area’s wildlife hot spots to maximize your chances of viewing whales and other wildlife. This cruise is fully narrated by our knowledgeable captains. Depending on the weather, you may see alpine glaciers tucked in the surrounding Chugach and Kenai Mountain Ranges and cruise by Bear Glacier, a piedmont glacier and the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. Experience the cruise that President Obama took on his visit to Alaska in 2015.

*FAQs:
- Will I see a glacier on this cruise?
This cruise does not visit a tidewater glacier (a glacier that ends in the ocean). However, you may see Bear Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. Bear Glacier is a piedmont/valley glacier that ends in a freshwater lake. We are not able to cruise to the face of the glacier because it ends 4 miles beyond the shoreline, but it is visible from a distance along our route if weather permits. You may also view alpine glaciers perched high in the mountains.

- Will I see any whales on this cruise?
While we cannot guarantee whale sightings, our captains visit wildlife hot spots and communicate with other vessels about recent wildlife sightings to give our guests the best chances of viewing whales. On average, we see whales on 75% of our 4 Hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruises between June and August. The longer you are on the water, the greater your chances are of seeing whales.

- Will I get seasick on this cruise?
You will be cruising through the calm, protected waters of Resurrection Bay, where the likeliness of seasickness is typically low. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking motion sickness medication such as Dramamine or Bonine before the cruise. This medication can be purchased at our check-in offices and on board our cruises.

- Is a meal included on this cruise?
No, there is no meal included on this cruise. We have a snack bar on board, and you are more than welcome to bring your own food with you. Glass containers and personal alcohol are not permitted.
