What We Will Do
We are excited to offer the first and only e-bike tour in SE Alaska. Join us for an easy and enjoyable electric-assist bicycle ride on the road to nowhere, the end of our paved road system. This road dead ends at the edge of extensive wilderness, where you will then take a guided hike on an enjoyable trail though dense rainforest, along a stream with waterfalls, rapids and calm sections.
We take a break at the stream's edge, which just may be the quietest and most relaxing place on your whole vacation. You will then return hike to the waiting e-bikes, and on the return bicycle ride we'll make another stop along the Inside Passage shoreline to check out the sea and beach comb a little bit on the rocky shore. Smoked salmon, picnic tables, and a great view are waiting as we return to our scenic oceanfront facilities. A convenience store with craft beers is on site.
All our tours provide round trip transportation from your cruise ship/hotel, and excellent gear is provided for all your needs.
What To Expect
*Duration: 4 hours
*No experience necessary.*
*Helmets, rubber boots, rain pants and rain jackets are provided. We also provide waterproof backpacks.
*We recommend that you wear clothing that would be appropriate for an outdoor hike through the forest with the weather on your given day.
*Ride with us on our new, peddle assist, electric bikes to where the road ends at the edge of extensive wilderness where you will then take a guided hike on an enjoyable trail through dense rainforest, across a stream featuring a beautiful waterfall and a late season salmon run. This hike features a wide array of flora and fauna and beautiful beach views from which we often watch seals swimming, salmon jumping and sometimes even get to watch humpback whales feeding near the shoreline or Orcas passing by. It’s always possible to see black bears along the ride or the hike but not guaranteed.
*The bike ride is 11 miles roundtrip and the hike (in the middle) is about 1.25 miles but with a maximum of 10 guests per tour. All of our tours are intimate and very educational. Often times throughout the summer we are the only tour out at the end of the road. What really sets us apart though are our guides. We are proud of our team and their rich blend of experiences and personalities that will guide your journey with us, surpassing the typical tours led by inexperienced seasonal guides.
*Smoked salmon, salmon dip and other snacks (including vegan options), hot and cold beverages and a great view are awaiting you when we return to our scenic marina.
*Our tours meet at our downtown office directly across the street from cruise ship berth 3. We are happy to offer our guests a centrally located meeting point featuring complimentary wifi and locally roasted coffee or hot tea for the early birds. Our Bright window signage makes us easy to find from the boardwalk and detailed directions, photos and a map are featured in your booking confirmation.

Kayak Eco-Tour
We drive you north of downtown Ketchikan to the Clover Pass Resort featuring a much quieter, more local vibe and typically much nicer weather. You’ll paddle with us on the protected ocean waterways of Clover Pass, circumnavigating 2 to 3 small islands featuring an immense array of inter-tidal life, a bald eagles nest, resident seals and sea lions and the potential to encounter many types of migratory birds, Sitka deer, Pacific porpoises, humpback whales and Orcas as well. With a maximum of 6 guests to a guide our kayak tours are very intimate and educational. Taking such small groups allows us the benefit of spending more time on the water than other tours and no need to make you feel rushed through any part of your experience. What really sets us apart though are our guides. Our crew features local guides and professional educators with experience as commercial Alaskan salmon fishermen, commercial winter dive fisheries in Southeast Alaska, experience guiding dog sled tours and working many seasonal guiding positions across the country. The experience and personalities of our guides bring so much more depth to your experience with us than you’ll find on tours led by fresh summer seasonals. No rookies on this crew. Smoked salmon and other snacks (including fantastic, locally made hummus) and a great view are awaiting you when we return to our scenic marina and a restaurant with Alaskan beers is on site.

Fast Boat Adventure
Have Fun on Our Inflatable Fast Ketchikan Boat Tours! Hop aboard our military-grade inflatable fast boats for a guided excursion on the Pacific Ocean in Alaska’s Inside Passage! At the Ketchikan Kayak Company, we’re only interested in experiences where you, the guests, can take control and do the piloting, paddling, or peddling. There are many Ketchikan boat tours that allow you to just ride along, but this isn’t one of them. Small groups of up to three inflatable fast boats follow a guided boat through the jagged coastline islands of Southeast Alaska in search of bald eagle nests, resident seals and sea lions, an immense array of intertidal creatures and, everyone’s favorite, feeding humpback whales! Clover Pass features calmer waters and often better weather than tours running in downtown Ketchikan so we love getting you out of town and away from the crowds. That said, you’re exploring the Tongass National Forest, it’s the second largest rainforest in the world after the Amazon, so we do get our fair share of rain. We have you covered though! All waterproof bibs, jackets, gloves, and boots are provided for the ride.

Our private campsite allows you to explore Ketchikan’s old growth forest and rocky beaches before and after your meal, giving you the chance to soak in the beauty of Alaska’s wilderness. Our culinary adventures give you a taste of all we have to offer. Enjoy a genuine Alaskan tradition as you have your catch prepared for you by our chef on a wilderness beach, at sea, or at a private table at the Alaska Fish House. 1) Cook Your Catch: Wilderness Dining Baranof Excursions has a remote campsite on a wilderness beach south of Ketchikan, ready for your arrival with your fresh-caught fish. Pull up with your guide in one of our boats, and step ashore to meet our campsite host. In just a few short minutes, we’ll quickly cook up a fresh bouillabaisse featuring your catch for you to enjoy in the comfort of a crackling beach fire, accompanied by beautiful views of the rainforest and the wild, rocky shoreline of our private beach. 2) Cook Your Catch: Private Dining At The Alaska Fish House On arrival back to town, our guides will lay out your fish at our fish cleaning station and help you determine which fish you want to eat and how to prepare it to best meet your culinary desires. Once you’ve made your choice, we’ll run your fresh catch-up to our chefs in the Alaska Fish House. By the time, you’re done taking your raingear off, washing your hands, and getting back into your civilian clothes, we’ll have a private table ready for you in our rustic-style dining room, and an expertly prepared meal on its way. Once you’ve settled at your table, enjoy a cold, Alaskan-brewed Denali beer or a glass of wine to accompany your meal and give yourself the chance to relax into an authentic Southeast Alaskan dining experience. (If you'd like, we encourage you to invite your family members that you left in town, and share in your catch). Be it maple-glazed salmon served on a bed of rice and locally-harvested sea asparagus, crab-stuffed halibut baked with finely sliced onions and garlic, battered and fried lingcod dipped in a homemade tartar sauce, or a pile of prawns grilled to perfection, you’ll find the locals eager to share the bounty of our oceans. And, trust us: there is nothing—and we mean nothing—that compares to the taste of fresh-caught fish prepared within just hours of the catch. Most of us will be quick to tell you there is no meal better than the meal you share with friends and family after a long day out fishing. We doubt you’ll be surprised that here at Baranof Excursions we’re right in culinary step with any good Southeast Alaskan. With us, your fishing experience doesn’t stop after you’ve reeled in your catch. In our opinion, the ultimate denouement of your Alaskan fishing adventure is in savoring the fruits of your labor in an authentic Alaskan dining experience. We are experts and find enjoyment in taking your fresh fish, putting you in a unique environment, and opening the way for you to break bread with your friends and family.
