Description
Hung Over with Grandma continues the love story of Stella and Jonas, her Inupiat boyfriend, as they finally marry and head out on an unconventional honeymoon to the far northern town of Atqasuk, Alaska.
Jonas’ elderly mother, suffering from the beginnings of dementia, returns to West Virginia with the newly married couple. Between this unique Inupiat woman and Stella’s brother, who was committed to a state hospital awaiting trial for murder, Stella and Jonas face a bumpy road for their new marriage.
Comparisons between Appalachian and rural Alaskan lifestyles lead to more commonalities than would be imagined. Love of nature, subsistence, hard work, caring for family, independent thinking, respect for one another, and a generous helping of humor link the two cultures.
