*About the Artist:
Rob Goldberg is one of Alaska’s most versatile artists. For over forty years he has painted in watercolor and acrylic, hand-printed limited edition serigraphs, and created many large public art installations in architectural etched glass and wood. Rob is also an accomplished luthier, creating bespoke guitars, violins, cellos, and mandolins.
As an adventurer, Rob has explored much of Alaska on foot or skis, in a river raft, by sea kayak, or rowing dory. The wildness of Alaska is the inspiration for his work.
With over thirty solo exhibitions of his paintings, Rob has created images for magazine covers, printed over fifty editions of serigraphs, created more than a dozen large public art installations, and built enough musical instruments to supply a large orchestra. The Rasmuson Foundation has awarded Rob two Individual Artist Awards.
Rob and his wife, artist Donna Catotti, are Catotti & Goldberg Art Studio, creating art in their studio on the Chilkat peninsula south of the fishing town of Haines, Alaska. They are modern-day homesteaders, having cleared their land and built their home, art studio, and woodworking shop. They cut firewood, grow a large garden and orchard, and catch fish and shellfish in the Chilkat Inlet near their home.
We invite you to explore the Catotti and Goldberg gallery on Voyij.com, where you can witness the artistry that unfolds from the heart of Alaska and acquire a piece that resonates with the beauty and serenity of Haines.
*What is a Hand Printed Serigraph?
Serigraphy is a silkscreen process used for fine art purposes. Out original prints are produced in limited editions as indicated in pencil below the image.
We make cut film stencils for screen printing, one for each color or blend of colors. A lacquer soluble film on a clear plastic backing is laid over a pattern, cut with an art knife, and peeled where you wish to print. The stencil is adhered to the screen in line with previous colors and the backing removed. The oil base ink is mixed, poured across the top of the screen, and the squeegee is “hand pulled by the artist”, pushing the ink through the fabric onto the paper below. This is repeated 200 times before that stencil is dissolved and the next one prepared. Sometimes we paint directly onto the screen with water soluble glue, another type of stencil.
These original serigraphs are produced and hand printed by Donna Catotti and Rob Goldberg in their studio on d’Arches Silkscreen 88, a 100% rag, neutral pH paper.

Laughton Glacier Snowshoe Expedition
This trip combines a scenic rail journey aboard the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway with a wilderness snowshoe trek toward the magnificent Laughton Glacier, an adventure you won’t soon forget. You will board the train for a nearly one-hour scenic journey filled with spectacular waterfalls, rushing rivers, jagged mountain peaks and complemented by Klondike Gold Rush history. At Glacier Station, guides will outfit you with snowshoes and other gear before you begin a fully guided and narrated three- to five-mile round trip snowshoe hike. Revel in the clean mountain air, amidst the surreal beauty of an old-growth forest. The magnificent, snow-blanketed, sub-alpine rainforest valley is home to an abundance of moose, bear, mountain goats and other wild animals. This spectacular trail winds along the raging Skagway River, where you will take memorable photos before continuing toward a smaller valley containing the Laughton Glacier. The canopy opens as you leave the forest and reach a panoramic viewpoint known as “the lookout”. This is where you can take a break as well as photos while enjoying the breathtaking views of Alaska’s winter wonderland in the spring. From here, some may choose to continue a ways toward the majestic Laughton Glacier, while others may make this the apex of the hike. Whatever you choose, you’ll be invigorated by the raw beauty of the Alaskan wilds and be offered hot drinks by your guides. Upon your return to the trailhead, you will be greeted with our traditional “Bush Buffet”, complete with snacks and assorted beverages. Finally, enjoy a relaxing train ride back to Skagway on “The Scenic Railway of the World.” With no more than six guests per guide, you can expect exceptional customer service.
