Description
During the cool summer evenings, the chief's nephew would go down the narrow piece of land, jetting out into the ocean, to feed eagles. The other villagers called him lazy when he went off to gaze at the skies rather than help dry salmon for the approaching winter. Only his grandmother believed in her heart that he would prove himself one day. When the village became short of food, the uncle decided to move everyone, except his nephew, to the Euchlegan Rivers further north. The nephew, now lonely and without food, watched as an eagle flew out to the spit. As he watched, the eagle released his tight hold on a salmon. He stumbled on rocks as he quickened his pace to get to the food. The nephew burst with joy when more eagles came with offerings for him. Meanwhile, the uncle did not fare well. There were no Euchlegan in the rivers. As they returned to the nephew they all noticed his strength from being well fed. He offered food to them. In return, they gladly offered their wealth to him. He became a much-respected man in the village which filled his grandmother with much happiness.

Half Day Guided Ice Fishing Trip
Visiting Alaska in the winter and want to get a fishing rod in your hands? Join us for a fun filled day out on the ice! This trip is great for all ages and all experience levels! Most of the rivers we fish are covered in ice and a blanket of snow during a large portion of the year. If you're visiting Alaska in the winter and want to get a fishing rod in your hands, ice fishing Alaska is an amazing trip and a great time for all ages and all experience levels! Hard water fishing is a big part of Alaskan life and we are happy to share it with folks visiting our great state. We are able to take folks out ice fishing throughout the greater Anchorage area as well as Girdwood, and the Mat-Su Valley. Once the location is decided we will come pick you up or have you follow us out to the lake. Once we get there, guests and guides will walk out on to the lake and up goes the warm portable pop up ice shelter and out comes the ice auger to drill through the ice. Hot drinks or cold beer are readily at hand throughout the day, and a heater is churning away keeping the hut toasty and warm. We also provide homemade chili as a delicious hot snack. Everyone gets a fishing pole to pursue a variety of fish such as rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, juvenile salmon, black fish, and Arctic char. We also provide comfortable seats and ice cleats to help you make your time on the ice as comfortable and easy as possible. We provide almost everything you will need to have a great day out on the ice! Guest’s need to come prepared with their own warm clothes and footwear. After all, this is ice fishing Alaska style! Guests will also need a fishing license, and an eagerness to try and land some fish!
