What We Will Do

A great trip for families! Hold on and enjoy your introduction to rafting in Alaska. You may see moose, sheep, caribou, and bear, as you raft downstream 11 miles. The most scenic portion of the Nenana River gives you thrilling, and enjoyable rafting.

You have your choice of Oar Rafts or Paddle Rafts (It takes 5 participants to paddle, when possible we combine parties to reach five or more).

Both oar rafts and paddle rafts run the same rapids on the river. Perfect for 1st timers, an oar raft, is rowed by the guide while rafters sit, hold on, and enjoy the view. In a paddle raft, you will be expected to follow instructions and be an active participant by paddling the raft down the river. You still have a guide but everyone has a paddle and the guide instructs you on how and when to paddle.

Our Shuttle Service provides the pickup from local lodging, plus transportation to and from the river.

What To Expect

In order to provide you with an enjoyable raft trip we supply knowledgeable guides, rafts, and the following gear for your comfort and safety.

Gore-Tex dry suits provided the most comfortable rafting experience possible. Our drysuits come with latex gaskets at the neck, and wrists and latex socks to keep your feet dry. The only body part that should get wet will be your hands and face - raft in comfort in and out of the water with a full range of movement. Dry suits were developed for people working and/or playing around freezing cold water providing you with a waterproof exterior layer to wear over your own insulating layers. We provide neoprene booties that slip over the latex sock allowing your feet to warm themselves with your own body heat. A Coast Guard-approved Type V lifejacket is provided.

To ensure your safety we take the following precautions:

• There is a minimum of two boats per trip.

• Each boat is equipped with a throw bag

• The trip leader on each tour carries emergency and first aid supplies.

• At least 1 or more certified Whitewater Rescue Technician on river trips at all times

• Shuttle drivers monitor the trip via the highway when accessible

Backcountry Photo Excursion by Helicopter

With only 10% of the entire state of Alaska accessible by road, we are proud to offer a premier helicopter-access photography excursion. Soar to a peak on Mt. Fellows where we will land in a remote location with 360° views of the Alaska Range. The landing area is broad and offers the opportunity for walking around or hiking up the ridgeline, for the more adventurous traveler. You will have over 2 hours for exploration and personalized photo instruction. This is a unique opportunity to experience the wilderness of Denali and take your time to compose the perfect shot. Activity level is moderate. You will be flown with your guide and land on the rolling tundra of the Alaska Range where you will photograph with your guide for 2+ hours. There are no trails, and the tundra is uneven terrain which can be challenging. Comfortable and supportive shoes are recommended. Please be prepared, there will not be comfortable places to sit for the duration of the excursion and the helicopter may be challenging to get in and out of. The best camera is the one you have! Our tour is designed to benefit all skill levels with any type of camera (smart-phones welcome). No matter what gear you have, our guides will be able to help you progress as a photographer. Beginners will learn techniques to get more out of their equipment; how to read light and adjust their exposure settings to photograph Alaska’s stunning scenery and wildlife in a way that "does it justice.” Advanced photographers will enjoy the luxury of being driven to the best locations without having to rent a car or trying to scout the vast and unfamiliar landscape. Half-Day Denali Survival Tour

Learn how to survive in the Denali wilderness! Tour Duration: 4 Hours What comes to mind when you think of Alaska? Is it gift shops, boardwalks, and buses? Or is it the rugged mountains, rugged people, and tragic stories of survival - like that of Chris McCandless in Into the Wild? If you answered yes to the last question, you’re just like me. And this tour is just for you. We created this tour to bridge the gap between those who want to learn more about surviving in the wild and those who want to spend thousands of dollars and take a week-long course in the wilderness. This tour is the perfect 4 hour introduction to survival in Denali. You'll learn what to do in the first 5 days of a survival situation. As you hike, you'll be treated to wild edible plants and berries. Your guide will stop along the way to teach you a whole host of useful survival skills. You might wonder how we pack all of that into 4 hours. We got an expert with nearly a decade of experience teaching primitive survival to create this program for us. And remember - If you book this tour and decide it's not for you later on, you can cancel with a full refund until 24 hours before your departure! Into the Mountains Tour

Duration: 5 Hours Do you like jaw-dropping views? A good workout? Learning about Denali? If you answered “no” to any of those questions, stop reading now. This tour isn’t for you. If you’re still reading, then this might be exactly what you’re looking for. This is the tour that one satisfied customer (Alicia G.) said was “the best guided tour I have ever had.” Are you ready? Leave the buses and boardwalks behind. Hike high into the Alaska Range. Feel the wind in your hair and the rocks beneath your feet. As the views begin to unfold, you won’t be able to peel your eyes away. The rugged mountains rise around you like monolithic castles. The wide valleys stretch into the distance. The greens, reds, and blues of the tundra create a patchwork quilt unlike any other. Now pick your jaw back up! There’s more to see, and higher to go! Toil further up the steep ridge. Scramble over jagged rocks. Stroll along saddles filled with beautiful alpine wildflowers. Later in the season, enjoy the bounty of wild blueberries, lingonberries, currants, and more. Keep an eye out for the elusive Dall sheep. You’re in their domain now! Your guide will point out signs of them everywhere. Maybe they’ll even lead you along a sheep trail for a time. But sheep aren’t the only animal you might see. Our clients have seen moose, bear, ptarmigan, stoats, porcupines, and more on the Into the Mountains Tour. So what do you think? Will you continue with the buses and boardwalks of most people’s Denali vacations? Or will you embark with us on a grand adventure into the Alaska Range, gaining a vantage point normally reserved for the Dall sheep and golden eagles? The choice is yours. And remember - You can cancel with a full refund until 24 hours before your departure! P.S. The map is inaccurate.

Chilkoot Trail Hike and Float Tour

Begin in Skagway as we drive 10 scenic coastal miles to the head of the famous Chilkoot Trail in Dyea, an abandoned Gold Rush town, now part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. On the 2-mile moderate hike, retrace the steps of the Gold Rush stampeders through a green moss-covered northern temperate rainforest. You will learn lots of gold rush and natural history and have time for taking photos. At the end of the one-way hike we meet with the raft and suit up for a relaxing river float on the tranquil Taiya River.  As you float down the gentle Taiya River, your guide will point out wildlife (Bald Eagles are common, bears occasionally) and tell stories of the area’s fascinating history while you enjoy the gorgeous river and mountain views. Enjoy a riverside snack after the float. This is an ACTIVE tour and the hike is moderately strenuous over uneven, hilly terrain (elevation gain is 300 feet up then 300 feet down) for the first mile, then on mostly flat ground for the remainder. Wear sturdy walking shoes with good traction. Please note that the hike portion of this trip is moderate to strenuous. Please be in good physical condition. Those with back, knee, hip, or balance issues should consider their participation in this activity. There is an alternate easier guided walk in place of the Chilkoot trail hike available and you will meet up with the group for the float portion. Please advise us when booking if you may need this service. Due to safety reasons and keeping our tour schedule, our guides will strongly advise you to do this alternate route at the start of the hike if they feel your participation in the Chilkoot Trail hike to be too strenuous for your ability level. Hiking poles are available for the hiking portion. For the Float portion we have lifejackets, rubber boots to wear instead of your shoes, and long rain ponchos. Tour goes rain or shine so please come prepared to hike in the rain with rainjackets and/or pants if needed.
