About us
What we'll do
Your tour begins when our friendly guide greets you at the pier where the fast ferry will dock in Haines and takes you for a short drive to the Takshanuk, "land of falling waters," trailhead. Here, you’ll learn how to operate a Kawasaki "Mule," an automatic-transmission, four-wheel-drive vehicle. Equipped with seat belts and designed to be easily accessible, they allow all ages and abilities to experience the thrill of the wilderness.
Your first stop is at our private, full service lodge where you will be served fresh baked right out-of-the-oven cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, or lemonade. Our lodge is nestled in the forest with stunning views of the Lynn Canal and surrounding mountain ranges- see if you can find Santa Claus Mountain!
After the lodge you’ll continue on the trail for another scenic two miles, passing cascading waterfalls and crossing crystal clear mountain streams. Your guide will make a stop at a scenic alpine lake to take in the views and scan the mountain side for wildlife. The natural lake is fed by cascading waterfalls down the backside of Mt. Ripinsky. When the season is right you can pick wild Alaskan blueberries and salmon berries that are abundant in this area.
As you continue to the end of the trail at 1,500 feet, be prepared to catch your breath for the stunning vista of Chilkoot Lake and the Lutak inlet. A gorgeous alpine meadow awaits those who wish to take a short hike up the hillside to enjoy the wildflowers that soak up the sunshine at this higher elevation.
The return portion of your tour will take you back to our exclusive lodge where you will be served a deliciously prepared beer-battered halibut and roasted chicken meal, served with special recipe red potatoes, cabbage salad, and fruit salad.
After this fantastic homemade meal and time to relax in the lodge, it’s time to traverse your way back down the mountain for your transfer back to your ship. Our guides will take you through our town of Haines and point out the highlights for your continued quality experience in Haines.
