As stewards, our team has donated personal time to partake in local trail building/restoration projects and city-wide clean-ups. We have partnered with the Renewable Energy Alaska Project on their Tour Green Program and the Beluga Whale Alliance as a part of their collaborative research to support local organizations striving to make a difference.
What we'll do
*About
Our journey up Blackstone Bay takes us along the shores of this fascinating fjord carved by the ancient glaciers on their great retreat. It is an epic story of the powers between ice and granite. Live the history of glaciations as we cruise among the sheer cliff walls, wide glacier outwash streams, and deep groves and striations scoured in the rock walls.
In less than one hour from Whittier you will be sitting at the face two tidewater glaciers, Beloit and Blackstone and see the numerous waterfalls and hanging glaciers, remnants of giant glacier’s retreat. In route we’ll stop to photo sea otters and harbor seals that make their home in this part of the sound. During our adventure we’ll step ashore for a beach walk to experience the natural geology and thick rainforest. Enjoy a snack and hot drink as you reflect on your journey and this magnificent nook of Alaska.
What to expect / what's provided
We go rain or shine! Prince William Sound is a temperate rainforest, so you should expect rain - that is what gives us all the beautiful glaciers and spectacular waterfalls! Remember... any adventure on the water will be 10-20 degrees cooler than on shore. Dress in layers - be sure to bring a fleece layer, waterproof jacket, waterproof pants and closed toed, water resistant hiking shoe.
