Description
No matter what time of year it is, I always seem to be chasing daylight and trying to find as much of this amazing sunshine as I can. Late summer light has this beautiful way of changing those colors I have seen all day on my hikes. The mountains and glacial blues seem charged with light. The alpine wildflowers, lichens, and mosses glow more as the light dims. These wild blue flowers are a reminder to me of the Alaska State flower – Forget-me-nots – that somehow mimic the blue, blue sky.
About the Artist: Stephanie Ryan
Stephanie hopes her paintings bring people light and happiness while drawing attention and inspiration to conserve places that need it most.
“I am so thankful to have had many unique and inspiring work and adventure opportunities in local and wild locations! Exploring a trail or coastal beach with our pup Daagi, touring a friend’s newly planted garden, or embarking on a weeks-long expedition – all bring so much joy in the element of a connection and shared experience of something special. I’m hoping we get to meet you and share a story sometime – I say ‘we’ as you often will find me accompanied by an absolutely incredible, witty, and joyful person (my husband, Aric that is helping make my life as an artist more than I could ever imagine. We hope to see you on the trail, in the mountains, on a river, or wherever our paths should meet! Thank you for visiting my website!”

Full Day Float Flyfishing Trip
Our summer full day wade trips take place up in the town of Willow, AK, a beautiful and scenic hour and fifteen minute drive north of Anchorage. We are the closest consistent fishing location to Anchorage! We have taken our knowledge & experience that comes with multi-day Alaska fishing trips and focused that talent into our 1/2 day Alaskan fishing adventure! Since our guides are local fisherman first we know when & where to catch fish on the Alaskan road system. With a beautiful drive just an hour and fifteen minutes north of Anchorage we have access to some of the best fishing in the state no bush plane needed! We will meet you at Willow Creek Resort to start out your trip. These trips are great for guests of all ages and skill levels! We've taken folks as young as 4 and as old as 94 out on our trips! Once you're at the river, your guide will chat with you about your experience level and if needed do a hands on fly fishing 101 to get even the most novice angler ready to expertly land some fish. After the fly fishing 101 you'll jump into the raft and start your float down the river and start casting and catching! Our rafts are outfitted with custom frames that allow for seats with backs. This makes the day of fishing so comfortable, especially for older folks or those that need a little more support when floating down the river. This is a fun trip even for guests that are more into sightseeing than fishing, and great for all ages! Depending on how a certain area of water is fishing, the guide may have you follow them in your vehicle to another spot on the river. From rainbows to salmon we can show you how to handle some of Alaska's best water in a day! Our trips can begin as early as mid to late May and run through September 30th & just like anything in Alaska are at mother nature's whim. The rivers we guide on are the tributaries of the Susitna river systems. Based on which rivers are fishing the best, FishHound will supply our customers with the fishing gear they need (license's & parking fees excluded) from quality waders & boots to rods, reels, line & even flies at no additional charge! We realize that most folks who are doing these style of trips may be new to it & would have no idea what to bring, so we take the guess work out of it- right down to having back-up ponchos and rain gear for our guests.

Eagle Preserve Float Tour
An award winning excursion! Duration 6.5 Hours About This award winning excursion tours through the heart of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve by raft. Enjoy a scenic float trip through the Chilkat Valley with great photo opportunities for Eagles and other wildlife amidst the grandeur of Glaciated snow-capped peaks. This tour offers an immersive wildlife excursion with abundant eagle sightings and a small group interactive experience with your tour guide. Overview Your tour begins as you board a high-speed catamaran for a scenic 45-minute cruise along **North America's longest and deepest fjord** to Haines. Along the way, you'll witness spectacular views of waterfalls and ice-sculpted peaks as your guide points out marine wildlife along the fjord. Upon arrival in Haines, you'll board a motorcoach for a relaxing 40-minute drive up the Haines Highway, a National Scenic Byway, to the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. You'll see historic Haines and Fort William H. Seward on this narrated drive from expert naturalists. Watch for moose and swans in the marshlands as you head up the Chilkat River Valley on this excursion. At the preserve, experienced raft guides await to begin your rafting adventure (not whitewater). You'll float silently down the river aboard 18' inflatable rafts - the best way to observe eagles drawn to feed on the plentiful salmon. **Bears and wolves are also frequent guests at the feast.** Not only rich in wildlife, the preserve is also a place of incredible beauty, with *towering mountains, hanging glaciers and lush forests.* Your tour will float past the Native village of Klukwan where the Tlingit people have lived for centuries on the bounty of this beautiful wilderness. After your float, you'll enjoy a riverside picnic. Your tour concludes with a return cruise aboard the catamaran back to Skagway. With Haines behind you, you leave with a myriad of unforgettable memories. ***Note:*** Though wildlife can never be guaranteed, Bald Eagles, moose, all five types of Pacific salmon, brown and black bears frequent the area. Wildlife sightings depend on the time of the year and area within Haines where the excursion takes place. Your guides will choose the best locations to help you maximize your wildlife viewing opportunity.
