What We Will Do
Once everyone has been picked up at the central meeting point, we will tour through the historic district in Skagway. Then we will make our way out of town up the summit pass. At the top of the summit, we will reach British Columbia, Canada. Then we will tour through a weather-worn dwarfed forest called the Tormented Valley. Here we will take in the scenery and enjoy this strange, but beautiful landscape.
After the Tormented Valley, we will come to Boreal Forest and the lakes region of the tour. Through these two regions, we can stop, take pictures, and take in the changing scenery as we drive deeper into Canada. Next, we will arrive at the dog Mushing Camp where Michelle Phillips and her professional racing crew will tell us all about the ins and outs of mushing on the trail, training in the off-season, and what life is like for a professional musher. Here we can also take a summer dog mushing training ride, which is educational, fun, and actually how these canine athletes train.
From here we will continue to the border of British Columbia and the Yukon and touch into a Canadian Territory that many never see. After this point, we will travel back on the same beautiful highway and return to Skagway where you can be dropped off in town.

Cancellation Policy
A 15% cancellation fee will be charged for all cancellations of confirmed reservations. The entire amount of the tour price is forfeited if cancellation is made within 48 hours prior to the scheduled tour departure date. A full refund is only provided in cases where your cruise ship does not arrive in port or arrives too late to accommodate you on your scheduled departure time.
A full refund will be processed FOR ALL TOURS if your ship does not arrive in port or if it arrives too late for your intended tour and we are not able to accommodate you on a later departure time with the necessary tour adjustments.

Tormented Valley and Suspension Bridge Tour
At a relaxed pace, this tour combines all the best scenery with limited time on the bus. We will pick up at the central meeting point then take the Scenic Klondike Highway up our beautiful Summit pass of 3292'. On the way to the top, you will see beautiful rainforests, glacially carved valleys, and waterfalls! Once we reach the top will we then enter into what is known as the Tormented Valley! A weather-worn, sub-arctic, beauty of a valley with dwarfed trees and stunning rock formations. We will take a couple of stops along this stunning area. This incredible scenic drive is always an option even when many things are closed down or not yet open for the season. It is my pleasure to offer a beautiful tour at the extremes of the season. The early spring will likely have snow in sections of this drive and the late season will have gorgeous fall colors! Once we have picked everyone up from our central meeting point, we will tour through the historic district in Skagway. Then we will make our way out of town up the summit pass. Historic Gold Rush Scenic Drive Tour
Your tour begins at the pier where you’ll meet your knowledgeable guide. Your small, intimate group will board a van and drive through Skagway’s historic district and residential district en route to the backcountry and the gold rush-era town of Dyea. On this excursion in Skagway, hear tales about Skagway’s time as a gold rush boom town as your guide points out some of its historic buildings. Driving through Skagway’s residential district you’ll learn all kinds of interesting facts about this wonderful town. Once out of town, your tour leads over a mountain road to what was once the gold rush city of Dyea. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Naku Bay overlook and peer down the inside passage – North America’s longest and deepest fjord. Next, head to the trailhead of the Chilkoot Trail. This world-famous trail was the main route to the riches of the Klondike during the gold rush over 100 years ago. Now a tranquil place of incredible beauty, the trail winds through a lush rainforest alive with birds, animals, and wildflowers. Chilkoot Trail Hike, Float, and Summit Drive Tour
This excursion retraces the footsteps of the Klondike Gold Rush stampeeders over the historic Chilkoot Trail and float back down on the beautiful Taiya River. Tour the spectacular views of alpine lakes, towering snow-capped peaks, and pristine forest on a drive to the summit of the picturesque White Pass. Your excursion begins at the dock. After a safety orientation, board a van and drive through Skagway to the backcountry and the historic town of Dyea. Hike the first two miles of the scenic Chilkoot Trail, the centerpiece of gold rush history in Skagway. This world-famous trail was the main route to the riches of the Klondike during the gold rush. Now a tranquil place of incredible beauty, the trail winds through a lush rainforest alive with birds, animals, and wildflowers. Enjoy the exercise, fresh air, beautiful scenery, pristine forests, and history of a bygone era as the trail takes you up and over the 350' tall Saintly Hill. Along the way, your tour guide weaves an entertaining mix of natural history and Klondike folklore. Photo opportunities abound as you retrace the footsteps of the gold-hungry stampeders who forged this route over 100 years ago. Arrive at the banks of the Taiya River, where your 18-foot raft awaits for the scenic float (no whitewater) back to Dyea. The forest gives way to fields of beach greens and wild iris, and the granite walls of the fjords rise steeply to the snow-capped peaks and hanging glaciers. Enjoy a riverside snack of homemade cookies and a hot beverage with countless picture-perfect moments before loading up in the van and continuing the tour up to the White Pass summit. We’ll drive for about 45 minutes from the take-out to the top of the scenic White Pass. There are many photo opportunities of beautiful alpine lakes, glaciers, towering snowcapped peaks and pristine forests. After enjoying the spectacular scenery, we’ll return through the U.S. Border station and return to the town of Skagway. *Timings: (~10 minutes) - Your friendly guide will meet you near the Skagway Small Boat harbor sign and restrooms. Here they will take the opportunity to get to know you and provide answers to any questions that you might have about your upcoming excursion. (~35 minutes) - From the small boat harbor we’ll board a van and head toward Dyea and the Chilkoot Trail. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a driving town tour of Skagway and the scenic coastal gravel road to Dyea. (~120 minutes) - Once we arrive in Dyea, your guide will get you outfitted with trekking poles and you’ll have the opportunity to use the restroom before we begin tracing the Gold Rush stampeders’ steps along the first two miles of the Historic Chilkoot Trail. (~10 minutes) - At the end of the hike your guide will get you outfitted with a PFD and rubber boots and provide a safety briefing as we prepare for the scenic float down the Taiya River. (~35 minutes) - Sit back and enjoy as your experienced river guide rows you down the scenic Taiya River. The stable 18’ raft provides a great platform for photography and taking in the sweeping mountain, ocean, and rainforest views. (~15 minutes) - Once we reach the riverside raft take-out, you’ll be treated to a homemade cookie and hot cocoa, hot tea, and some free time to take in the dramatic landscape with the supplied spotting scope. (~85 minutes) - From the river take-out we’ll begin our drive north up the Klondike Highway to the dramatic summit of the White Pass. There will be many photo opportunities and we’ll stop at the “Welcome to Alaska” sign so that you can get pictures with the sign. (~60 minutes) - When we depart the summit the leisurely drive back to your ship will take about 45-60 minutes as we make a photo stop at Bridal Veil Falls and stop through US Customs.

Chilkoot Canoe Wildlife Safari Tour (Skagway Departure)
After meeting your tour representative in Skagway, you'll board a high speed catamaran for a 45 minute boat ride to the town of Haines. Upon arrival into Haines, we'll take a short tour of Fort Seward, a 30 minute drive from downtown Haines and then head up the Lutak Inlet to the Chilkoot River Valley. The Chilkoot corridor offers incredible wildlife viewing. Brown Bears, eagles, mountain goats, and spawning salmon are commons sights. Our guides are expert naturalists and enjoy sharing their love and knowledge of the Alaskan wilderness. Once at the Lake, we’ll head out onto Chilkoot Lake in stable motor assisted Voyageur Canoes. Our Canoes are built using similar dimensions as the canoes used by trappers and gold miners at the turn of the century. Powered by either paddle or motor, this tour offers guests the opportunity to paddle in the serenity of Chilkoot Lake, while also having the advantage of relaxing and taking photographs when it’s time to take a break from paddling. We’ll be out on the water for about 2 hours and explore the inlets, coves, salmon spawning streams and numerous waterfalls that spill off of the mountains into the lake. After enjoying the beautiful views on the lake, we’ll return to Haines and serve a picnic-style lunch at a private ocean beach location. Following lunch, we'll load up back onto the fast ferry for the return trip to Skagway. * Timings: (~75 minutes) Your friendly dock representative will meet you near the Skagway Small Boat harbor sign and restrooms. We will provide answers to any questions that you might have about your upcoming excursion and get you ready to board the ferry to Haines. We’ll help you board the comfortable ferry for the 50-minute narrated, scenic journey to Haines. (~60 minutes) Upon arrival in Haines, restrooms will be available and you’ll meet your guide and driver. From here we’ll depart for an interpretive drive through historic Fort Seward and continue to Chilkoot Lake. Along the way, we’ll drive along the shoreline of the Lynn Fjord and the wildlife-rich Chilkoot River. (~15 minutes) When we arrive at Chilkoot Lake you’ll have the opportunity to meet your other guides and take in the stunning views of the pristine lake. Your guides will help you get fit with a PFD (life jacket), rubber boots and canoe paddle. You’ll then receive a thorough safety briefing and orientation before boarding the 31’ long voyageur canoe for your adventure. (~90 minutes) – We’ll spend the next hour and a half experiencing Chilkoot Lake while our stable voyageur canoes. It is an excellent way to take in the fantastic views by water and if the wind picks up or you’re ready to relax, we will use the quiet 4-stroke motor to move around. (~15 minutes) – Once back at the put-in we’ll trade your rubber boots and PFD’s back in for your shoes and you’ll have time to enjoy our private deck and spotting scopes to take in the views of the lake and surrounding mountains and waterfalls one more time. (~40 minutes) We’ll then board our transportation and head down to the ocean for lunch. (~30 minutes) At our private ocean side picnic area, you’ll enjoy a picnic-style lunch provides great views of the Lynn Fjord in a private setting. (~50 minutes) Once we wrap up with lunch we’ll head over to the ferry dock where you’ll have the opportunity to use the restrooms and take additional photos of Haines before enjoying the scenic ride back up the fjord to Skagway. (~15 minutes) Upon returning to Skagway, a short walk will bring you back to our original meeting point, just a few minutes walk or shuttle to downtown Skagway and all three cruise ship docks.

Meet our super-friendly canine athletes. Learn all about life as a long distance musher. Check out all the gear and stand on the runners of a racing sled. Hear some tales from the trail. Cuddle with our newest athletes: the puppies! -($45 per adult, $40 per kid aged 5 - 12, $0 per kid aged 0 - 4) Experience everything as above, but a 20 minute sled dog trek with the dogs is included! Each trek can take up to 6 at a time while you take the dogs on a fun-filled work out, guided by a musher or trainer. For groups over 15, we will divide the group into different activities at the sled dog camp to ensure everyone has ample time to experience the sled dog trek, puppies, and educational talk. -($15 per person) - Experience authentic gold panning in the Yukon while at the Tutshi Sled Dog Camp! This option is perfect for groups of 30 or more to ensure everyone has time to play with the puppies & do the dog sled trek. This option will add 30 minutes of time to the tour. OR instead, we can visit (2) Visit Wild Adventure Yukon (formerly known as Caribou Crossing) where you will have the chance to participate in the following: -($15 per person admission fee) Formerly called Caribou Crossing Trading Post is a hub of gold rush history that gives visitors the opportunity to experience the Yukon Territory through activities such as gold panning and Iditarod dog cart rides. It also boasts a museum, petting farm, husky puppies, a cafe, and gift shop—making it an all-around great stopover on a road trip or tour. -($45 per person) Race through the Yukon wilderness as you take Alaskan Huskies on an exercise training. This 15 minute ride is fully guided on a side-by-side and guide. Includes Tale of the Trail talk. -($36 per adult, $32 per kid) Our homestyle BBQ chicken is prepared fresh daily for a serving time of 11:30 to 2:00 by our chef Dexter. About the Show For nearly 100 years The Days of '98 Show has been dazzling audiences with music, laughter, and the legendary CAN CAN! Experience a day in the life of Jefferson "Soapy" Smith, Alaska's most notorious outlaw, who reigned during the wildest days of Skagway during the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush. This colorful vaudevillian musical brings you into the "Skaguay" of 1898 with the thrills and frills of the dancehalls and the chills felt by gold rush stampeders along the trail of '98. This show has been a Skagway tradition for cruise ship, bus, and RV visitors for over 100 years and is an iconic performance and a "must see" while in Skagway. Who Was Soapy Smith? November 2, 1860 - July 8, 1898 All of the events depicted in this original play are taken from the Skagway historical record and center on Soapy Smith's reign over the town during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897 and 1898. Jefferson Randolph Smith was born in Georgia in 1860 and ventured west as a young man. He learned his trade as a con man during the silver and gold rushes of Colorado and eventually made it to Skagway in the fall of 1897. Here, he and Colorado cohort "Rev." John Bowers assembled what was reputed to be the largest band of thieves in North America. Skagway was described by Canadian Mountie Sam Steele as "a little better than hell on earth," and Smith's gang reigned supreme for nine months. Smith had a wife and family in St. Louis but he befriended Miss Belle Davenport and her "soiled doves," Alice and Mollie in Seattle before heading North. While his men did most of the dirty work, Soapy tried to establish himself as a solid citizen of Skagway. He contributed to the building of Skagway's first church and founded an "Adopt a Dog" program. City surveyor Frank Reid and others saw through Smith's good deeds and tried to run the con man and his gang out of town, but Smith was able to rally much of the business community around him. Soapy was riding high on July 4, 1898, as he rode his white horse up Broadway and then stood on the platform with the Governor of Alaska. Four days later he was dead man. His gang robbed a Nanaimo, British Columbia stampeder named J.D. Stewart of $2,800 in gold dust. Smith stood by his troops and refused to give the gold back. Reid's vigilante Committee of 101 gathered at the Juneau Co. Wharf as there was no hall in Skagway big enough to contain the mob. Most of Smith's men ran for the hills, but Soapy grabbed his Winchester and headed for the wharf to break up the meeting. You'll witness the events leading up to this historic moment. In 1923, Princess steamships started bringing tourists to Skagway. The local residents decided to put on a show for them to raise money for their local hockey team. The team needed new uniforms to compete in the White Pass Athletic League against their rival team in Whitehorse, Yukon. The show became an instant tradition and has been running ever since.

Step into the Yukon and Sled Dog Tour
Once everyone has been picked up at the central meeting point, we will tour through the historic district in Skagway. Then we will make our way out of town up the summit pass. At the top of the summit, we will reach British Columbia, Canada. Then we will tour through a weather-worn dwarfed forest called the Tormented Valley. Here we will take in the scenery and enjoy this strange, but beautiful landscape. After the Tormented Valley, we will come to Boreal Forest and the lakes region of the tour. Through these two regions, we can stop, take pictures, and take in the changing scenery as we drive deeper into Canada. Next, we will arrive at the dog Mushing Camp where Michelle Phillips and her professional racing crew will tell us all about the ins and outs of mushing on the trail, training in the off-season, and what life is like for a professional musher. Here we can also take a summer dog mushing training ride, which is educational, fun, and actually how these canine athletes train. From here we will continue to the border of British Columbia and the Yukon and touch into a Canadian Territory that many never see. After this point, we will travel back on the same beautiful highway and return to Skagway where you can be dropped off in town.
