What We Will Do

Walk on the massive Yanert Glacier with views of the spectacular and vast Alaska landscape!

Experience the delight of standing upon the ancient Yanert Glacier on Denali's original glacier landing! Fed from the precipice of Mt. Deborah, which towers over the glacial valley in which you'll land, explored primarily by TEMSCO Denali, we invite you to truly encounter the great Alaskan Wilderness.

Your tour will begin at our private heliport. From take-off, you'll soar over the rolling hills and sharp, jagged peaks of the Alaskan Backcountry as you travel up the currents of the glacially-fed Yanert River with your experienced pilot as your guide of the area. And, be sure to keep an eye out for caribou, moose, bear, and dall sheep on the way.

Upon landing on the glacier, you will be free to roam the icy terrain. Have a drink of the freshest water this earth has to offer. Take home an ancient rock emerged from the crevices of the massive ice moraines.

But, most importantly take it all in. Let your mind capture the imagery a camera never could. See the perfect shades of blue, wonder at the towering walls of the mountain surrounding you, and fall in love with Alaska the way it was meant to be seen.

About Us

TEMSCO (an acronym from the words: Timber, Exploration, Mining, Survey, Cargo Operations) was founded in 1958 in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Founder of TEMSCO and Alaska Aviation Pioneer, Ken Eichner proved that helicopters were an invaluable tool for the rugged and remote terrain of Alaska. He became the President of the company in 1965. Eichner built the company into one of the most successful helicopter companies in Alaska. Ken Eichner received his Commercial Certificate in 1960 followed by a Rotorcraft rating in 1962. Flying mining support, forestry, radio repeater construction, powerline construction, crew transport, and cargo flights Ken Eichner and the other pilots of TEMSCO Helicopters supported Southeast Alaska’s Communities with their fleet of aircraft. Eichner also initiated the development of the Ketchikan volunteer rescue group. This volunteer organization was instrumental in many difficult rescues.

TEMSCO Helicopters services tourism, hospital transport, firefighting, international, and other growing markets. Since Ken Eichner’s retirement in the early ’90s TEMSCO continues his vision of service and dedication to the community. Ken Eichner’s grandson is now Chief Pilot at TEMSCO Helicopters, Inc. helping to ensure the wisdom and practical knowledge is passed down to new generations of TEMSCO Pilots and Mechanics and ultimately making the safety and job efficiency a priority for TEMSCO’s Customers.

Duration: 5 Hours Do you like jaw-dropping views? A good workout? Learning about Denali? If you answered “no” to any of those questions, stop reading now. This tour isn’t for you. If you’re still reading, then this might be exactly what you’re looking for. This is the tour that one satisfied customer (Alicia G.) said was “the best guided tour I have ever had.” Are you ready? Leave the buses and boardwalks behind. Hike high into the Alaska Range. Feel the wind in your hair and the rocks beneath your feet. As the views begin to unfold, you won’t be able to peel your eyes away. The rugged mountains rise around you like monolithic castles. The wide valleys stretch into the distance. The greens, reds, and blues of the tundra create a patchwork quilt unlike any other. Now pick your jaw back up! There’s more to see, and higher to go! Toil further up the steep ridge. Scramble over jagged rocks. Stroll along saddles filled with beautiful alpine wildflowers. Later in the season, enjoy the bounty of wild blueberries, lingonberries, currants, and more. Keep an eye out for the elusive Dall sheep. You’re in their domain now! Your guide will point out signs of them everywhere. Maybe they’ll even lead you along a sheep trail for a time. But sheep aren’t the only animal you might see. Our clients have seen moose, bear, ptarmigan, stoats, porcupines, and more on the Into the Mountains Tour. So what do you think? Will you continue with the buses and boardwalks of most people’s Denali vacations? Or will you embark with us on a grand adventure into the Alaska Range, gaining a vantage point normally reserved for the Dall sheep and golden eagles? The choice is yours. And remember - You can cancel with a full refund until 24 hours before your departure! P.S. The map is inaccurate.

Denali Glacier Landing Expedition
