Yukoner Beyond the White Pass Plus Suspension Bridge

4 hr

On our half-day tour to the Yukon border, follow in the path of the Klondike Gold Rush stampeders of 1898 as you travel up the Klondike Highway, past waterfalls and steep mountains of coastal rainforest. See views of the WP&YR railroad, Brackett Wagon Road, Pitchfork Falls and Moore Creek Bridge. As we cross the 3292 foot summit of the White Pass and the Canadian Border we enter the subarctic alpine tundra of the "Tormented” valley with its crystal blue Summit Lake.  At the Summit, we visit the Welcome to Alaska sign for a photo. We’ll continue on the journey through spectacular scenery in Canada of dramatic lakes and the Northern Boreal forest wilderness. Stand at the shores of Lakes Tutshi and Tagish, encircled by mile-high mountains, and pose at the Yukon Border sign for a great photo-op.  Panoramic wilderness vistas await you. Bonus stop at Yukon Suspension Bridge includes time for bridge crossing and viewing educational displays. The snack bar is available for food purchases and the Yukon gift shop. Modern restrooms (the only ones from Skagway to Carcross!) are included. The Yukon is always our best opportunity to encounter wildlife, so we’ll watch for bears, moose, sheep, goats, and more! Experience part of the true wilderness of northern Canada on this Half Day excursion

Yukon Discovery Tour

6 hr 30 min

Tour begins by climbing the mountainous Klondike Highway, driving by mini-bus, north to the US/Canadian border, paralleling the 1898 Gold Rush Trail to the White Pass summit at 3292 feet. Along the way, view coastal rainforest, magnificent waterfalls, glaciers, and snow capped peaks. We make multiple stops at scenic views like Moore Creek bridge, Welcome to Alaska sign, Summit Lake and Tormented Valley. Once in Canada, we journey through spectacular scenery of dramatic lakes encircled by mile-high mountains and the Northern Boreal forest wilderness. Stunning Tutshi and Tagish Lakes, the Welcome to the Yukon sign and Bove Island viewpoints are all great photo stops. In Carcross, stand on the shores of historic Lake Bennett, see the "World’s Smallest Desert” and marvel at the gorgeous green Emerald Lake. We watch for wildlife (including bears, moose, caribou, dall sheep and mountain goats) all along our route. For lunch, we stop at Caribou Crossing where you’ll see the North’s premier educational wildlife gallery, featuring over 100 Yukon and Ice Age taxidermy animals, including the world’s largest mounted polar bear.  Included are displays on Gold Rush history and Canadian Mounties. There is a Yukon gift shop for souvenirs. Lunch is delicious BBQ chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, homemade bun, coffee or tea, and yummy donuts. (Vegetarian/vegan/gluten free option of lentil curry and rice is available. Lunch orders are taken at departure time).   You’ll also visit the sled dog camp during our time there, where you can interact with the husky dogs and puppies. All guests will be able to view and photograph the puppies, either napping or playing in their pen, however one-on-one interaction time with them is not guaranteed. Residing at the puppy area are also two adorable Pomskies (a fluffy mix of husky and pomeranian). They will greet groups and be available for photos.  Also onsite is a Petting Farm with horses, ponies, rabbits, donkeys, chickens, alpacas and goats to interact with and feed. The Yukon Discovery tour is a popular and complete tour for an economical price. There is world-class scenery around every turn that you’ll never forget!

White Pass Summit & City Tour

2 hr 30 min

The narrated drive up the gorgeous Klondike Highway parallels much of the Gold Rush Trail of 1898 where stampeders struggled to climb carrying their ton of goods during winter snows. Along the route are spectacular vistas of steep mountains of coastal rainforest and historical stops, including Brackett Wagon Road, Pitchfork Falls, Moore Creek Bridge, and views of the WP&YR railroad. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and watch for wildlife. Upon cresting the White Pass Summit (3292 feet, 1003 meters), take in views of the sub-arctic alpine tundra of the "Tormented” Valley, with its crystal blue Summit Lake and snowcapped mountains. At the US/Canadian border, have a photo opportunity with the Welcome to Alaska sign! Our return trip takes us the Skagway Scenic Overlook, which offers a panoramic view of the entire town, harbor and cruise ships. Also included are the historic downtown (part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park) and the Gold Rush Cemetery to visit our infamous outlaw, Soapy Smith, and hear tales of the early pioneers. Your guide will bring the Gold Rush to life with many stories of the history of the era. We make plenty of stops for photos along the way! Our most economical tour and shortest option.
