SeaWind Aviation is a family operation committed to providing the finest of Alaska, including flight seeing in the Misty Fjords, viewing wildlife on a bear viewing tour, fishing or enjoying crab feasts, or by simply embarking on an air charter in the Southeast Alaska panhandle.
Our Alaska based business was founded on experience and knowledge that dates back through generations of seaplane and floatplane adventures. Seawind Aviation has been a top rated tour operator since inception and we invite you to experience the difference of our airline in Ketchikan.
What we'll do
SeaWind Aviation offers an essential Alaskan experience, combining aerial excitement with wildlife viewing.
Watch for marine mammals and terrestrial wildlife during a 20-minute flight out of Ketchikan, taking you over mountains and inlets to Misty Fjords National Monument. Your pilot discusses the natural history of this region with you; two-way headsets enable back-and-forth. Soaring above Misty Fjords, you’ll take in world-class granite grandeur.
Then your plane descends for a touchdown on salt water or a mountain lake. The goal is to see Alaskan bears in the wild. Your pilot cuts the engine and you climb down to the floats. The quiet majesty of Misty Fjords writes an indelible memory on your senses.
The nearby presence of brown bears or black bears accentuates the uniqueness of this excursion. Our pilots’ knowledge of bears’ seasonal behavior and daily overflights in Misty Fjords offer your best odds for viewing bears. When we touch down for bear viewing, we will float quietly as close as we can to the bears while ensuring that you are safe and the bears are not disturbed. Bears have keen senses of hearing and smell; noises and strong fragrances can frighten them.
