FishHound Expeditions is a guide owned, guide operated company offering Alaska Fly Fishing Trips on some of Alaskas' best rivers. With over 30 years of combined guiding experience we are truly FishHounds! We have taken our years of experience and found the best Alaska fishing for our clients through countless fishing trips and have gained permits for our most favorite and remote rivers.
Our guides are local fisherman first so we know when & where to catch fish on the Alaskan road system. With a beautiful drive just an hour and fifteen minutes north of Anchorage we have access to some of the best fishing in the state no bush plane needed!
FishHound is named lovingly after our hound dog: Hatch. Hatch was found as a puppy on the side of the road after a great day of fishing & catching an incredible may-fly hatch, thus his name sake. The company is a product of veteran guides Adam Cuthriell and Dave Repta "Reps" and of course their loving wives. We have over thirty years of combined guiding experience all over the world, but have made our home here in the great state of Alaska.
Owner & Alaska fishing guide Adam Cuthriell has been chasing fish on a fly for his clients all over North America and Kamchatka for the last 15 years. His excitement, passion, & knowledge for all things with fins is equaled only by his love of the river. The years of experience helps us adapt to our clients individual needs and learning styles to make their progression in fishing excel whether that be learning to hold a fly rod for the first time or perfect the perfect Double-spey. When not in the river Adam can be found chasing water it in its other form... Snow! Throughout the great state of Alaska and all its snowy peaks via split-board, snow machine, or ice axes. He is also a state of Alaska EMT and active member on Girdwood Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
Alaska fishing guide Dave Repta or "Reps" as he is known in the Alaskan fishing scene. Reps has been fishing Alaskan waters from Kodiak to the Brooks Range for the last 32 years. While guiding hundreds of clients from around the world the last 15 years, his ability to read water and put you on the fish can't be matched.
Reps wife Gwenn will be working behind the scenes baking fresh cookies, breads, tasty treats and amazing home made jellies for you on the river, and does all the packing and shipping for our expedition trips. We couldn't do all this without her!
What we'll do
There is no greater access to Alaska’s wild rivers than via a helicopter!
We run heli-fishing trips on multiple rivers throughout Southcentral Alaska, which is easily accessible from the Anchorage area.
Our single day heli-fishing trips provide an amazing remote Alaskan river experience with much more ease than what you can accomplish on the road system. This is an opportunity to get out to nature, with no one else nearby and quickly start casting your fly in our amazing Alaskan tributaries, which are flowing with fish!
This is a perfect trip for folks who want a wilderness trip/experience but don’t want to spend their whole time in Alaska in one remote location.
Most trips depart from the beautiful town of Talkeetna in the shadow of Denali. Denali provides an amazing view as you are flown out to some of the most phenomenal fishing in Alaska. Depending on the time of year we target all 5 species of Pacific salmon. Huge bruiser rainbow trout are always present as well as Arctic grayling and Dolly Varden.
Just like all our trips all fishing gear, tackle, food and drinks are included in the price of the trip except a fishing license which is easily purchased from the state.
These trips can even be booked fairly last minute but more notification is always better when involving air travel. Please feel free to call or email to find out more information on these amazing trips!
