It has been five years since Iditarod teams ran the historic Southern Route. It didn't take long for this year's field to realize that this route has a way of neutralizing speed and strategy.
67 teams left Anchorage; 52 made it to Front Street in Nome. Blizzards and cold winds set the stage for what can only be described as a "slow slog". Only one team would capitalize on one wrong turn late in the race. Led by the "Russian Express" that team turned patience and perseverance into opportunity.
This is the story of Iditarod 46, and a new leader at the front of the Pack; Joar Leifseth Ulsom!
